In keeping with breaking the usual "attraction, not promotion" rule of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the Fellowship of Mount Vernon, Illinois is putting on an "East Central Additional Regional Forum" for new people to come and learn from seasoned AA members how to prospect hunt for new indoctrinates to Bill Wilson chanting and perform the various AA ceremonies. Seasoned AA members will be there to tell others what hunting techniques they have used that worked in the canned hunting in jails and prisons as well as free range prospects who venture into the hunting area of the represented Intergroups. Being held at the Holiday Inn on 222 Potomac Blvd. in Mt. Vernon, IL 62864 August 10–12, 2012, newcomers are invited to come and learn about the finances of the Spiritual, not Religious Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. (AAWS) located at the Interchurch Center in New York. Attendance at the event is free, but a basket will most likely be passed around for donations just prior to the recital of the Lords Prayer. Reservations for the event are made at the Interchurch Center.
2012 East Central Additional Regional Forum - Mt. Vernon, IL Friday–Sunday, August 10–12, 2012
This forum is put on by the AA General Service Board and is open to AA members or anyone interested in AA. Forums originated in 1975 and are designed to enhance communication and participation among AA members, the General Service Board, and staff and directors from the General Service Office and the AA Grapevine magazine. Forums offer a meeting place to ask questions and spark new ideas to help carry the AA message of hope to the still-suffering alcoholic. This forum provides unique opportunities for AA members throughout the East Central Region to share their experience, strength and hope.
