It would appear that Cape Cod, Massachusetts probation officers in New England have more on their minds than the "home verification, job search progress, court appointments, etc. " and the meat of checking on probationers often is about "attendance at Narcotics Anonymous meetings." The attendance of NA meeting is supposed to be a a self report function, but court slips are signed to verify attendance and it is unknown how and if they are verified in the secret society of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) where "anonymity" of that religious pretending to be a solution to addiction is practiced. It would also appear that there are problems with attending court mandated Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings in the town where other people are court mandated too.....
Gonsalves: The eyes and ears of court
By Sean Gonsalves
July 29, 2012...... A popular cheerleader while in high school, Mariah's drug of choice was heroin. Still, Larson said as we walked up the stairs to the high-end condominium Mariah shares with her mother, "I like her. She's one of my easy ones, very receptive."
As Mariah's mother bluntly put it as we sat down in the living room, her daughter doesn't fit the stereotype.
"People think that drug addicts are just, excuse me, black or poor or whatever. But it doesn't matter. I raised this kid so well. She had the best of everything. In some ways, I think it's my fault because I gave and gave and gave," her mother said.
Mariah nods as Larson alternates between inquisitor and mentor. Larson runs down her checklist — home verification, job search progress, court appointments, etc. But, the meat of this discussion was about Mariah's attendance at Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
When Mariah acknowledged she hadn't been going to meetings every day, Larson wanted to know why.
"I'm not comfortable around the people," Mariah said, explaining how difficult it is for her to share her problems in a town where many people know her and her mother.
Larson wasn't having it. "Here's the thing," she said. "There's other meetings. Don't go to Sandwich meetings. There's Hyannis. But my problem with Hyannis is I don't want you to run into anybody that you've used with. I'm going to call Mashpee, and there's one in Osterville," Larson said, noting how at their next meeting they'd nail down a different place for Mariah to attend NA meetings.
After 30 minutes of being probed, punctuated with a "you're doing a good job" here and there, Mariah shared her thoughts about being on probation.
"If I wasn't on probation I probably wouldn't be doing as good as I'm doing. ... I'm so scared of going to jail," she said.
"We get along pretty well. I can talk to (Larson) about things. I feel like I can be honest with her. And I need someone to say, 'OK, this is what you're going to do, and this is how you're going to do it. And if you don't, then this is what's going to happen," Mariah said.
Next stop: Marstons Mills. This was one of Drew's cases — "Nina," a college-educated woman in her mid-30s who is also living with her mother, working to put her drug-fueled shoplifting days behind her...........

Given the frequency distribution of NA meetings in Cape Cod
Given the frequency distribution of NA meetings in Cape Cod I can see it would be hard to hold down a job, maintain a place of residence, make court appointments and attend NA meetings everyday. It sounds like they are trying to cause the probationers in Cape Cod to violate their probation by mandating NA attendance every day.
