Hospital Receptionist Claims She Was Fired for Smelling Like Cigarette Smoke: A Fridley woman named Stephanie Cannon believes she's the victim of discrimination -- fired because she smelled like cigarette smoke. Cannon, a smoker for 18 years, says she smokes almost a pack a day of Camel Menthols. But when she landed a job in June as a medical receptionist at Park Nicollet Health Services, in the Frauenshuh Cancer Center, she says she followed the hospital's clearly-stated "no smoking" policy. (There is no smoking allowed at any time on the premises.) "There were never any performance issues at all," Cannon insists. Yet six weeks after she started she says her supervisor told her, "We don't want you smelling like smoke when you come here."

How to Deal With an Employee Who Smells Like Alcohol: Unless you operate a brewery, no employee should ever smell like alcohol. An employee who arrives at work smelling of alcohol likely causes problems with co-workers and customers. If the employee appears under the influence of alcohol, the situation becomes even worse. Managers have the power to swiftly deal with these types of issues and make it known to all employees that smelling like alcohol at work is completely unacceptable.

Stephanie Cannon could have just claimed she was on a relapse and was planning on going to a 12 Step Nicotine Anonymous. It may save her job, she has a incurable, progressive disease that only a pagan "higher power" of your choice can help if you pray to it. Where better to kick the habit than at a hospital?

(HP)–Darrin Porter, 45, showed up drunk at the 12 Step House at 12:15 a.m. and wandered the hallways, interrupting a meeting according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Employees escorted Porter out of the facility, but he allegedly returned. When police arrived, the suspect declined to answer officers’ questions and demanded to know their names and social security numbers, according to Fox 19.

Police claim they detected a “strong odor” of alcohol on the suspect’s breath and took him into custody, according to WLWT.

Porter has been charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and obstructing official business.
