Some people say that AA does not claim to work for everybody and deals only with alcohol (as opposed to other problems). I hereby present "The Promises":

“If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through.  We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.  We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.  We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.  No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others.  That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.  We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away.  Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.  Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.  We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.  We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us — sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.”

I can. I am interested to know the sensitivity of the tests or scram bracelets. Given that we are talking about a teaspoon in a cup of soup that is possible 6-10 ounces, I wonder if it could determine it.

There are other types of tests that are very sensitive and could pick it up within about 48-90 hours after consumption. And clearly you DON'T know what abstinence means, or else we would not have been having this ongoing conversation over the last few months;)

Wow. We didn't have things like that in my day nor was I ever required to participate in them. Pretty astounding.

No, I don't have a problem with a fabulous bowl of traditional Maryland Cream o'Crab. Wish I could have some now. We did see gazpacho on a menu recently, and it was finished with cucumber vodka. Sounds horrible.

Cause, I am sorry that you feel so foolish over that, but no one asked me when it was. I was using it to illustrate an AA's reaction, nothing else. But I would have it tomorrow if I found it on a menu and I wanted some.

Not at all. I never dated the incident. It was just another one of those things you took and ran with, changing the details along the way. It was just like insisting that I went to meetings in DC when I didn't even join the fellowship until 10 years after I left the District and had moved to another state.

Well, he certainly must be something because when he isn't posting under some personality, everyone wants to tell Danny jokes or somehow make him the center of their interest. If he isn't here, he's here in spirit because of the behavior on the blog. Ben did the same thing about Marietta when I first got here. He admitted that he missed the bitch. She was referred to in another less flattering manner that Conan repeated word for word not too long ago.
