I was able to quit drinking once I relieved myself of the powerless and learned helplessness that I learned in AA. It's been over five years and I have no desire to drink.
AA is a religious cult dressed up to look like a treatment for alcoholism.
I don't get secondhand smoke exposure, hence my life expectancy went up 5 years on this fact alone. I am free to make meaningful decisions in the context of real life and don't have that above mentioned self examination issue (I never really bought it anyway). I am empowered, not powerless. I see the aa group as a sad bunch frozen in time afraid to move on for fear of the unknown which, we all know, will certainly make you drink...that is if you believe the bullshit you are fed there. Paralysis by analysis. Never again.

I have 2-3 more nights free, my Sunday morning,a smidgeon of self worth is returning, no stepper advice, and still no desire to drink. Hmmm...

The main thing
is that I'm no longer engaged in constant self-examination. I found that the steps led to a self-absorbtion that was unhealthy.
